I'm
sure most of you heard of the favorable and inexpensive facial scrub,
St. Ives Apricot scrub which usually costs about less than $4.00 at most
drugstores. The scrub is a great cleanser to rid dead skin cells to
bring out newer skin. In search of other products to exfoliate my skin, I
made a recent visit to Bath and Body Works and discovered a new facial
scrub, Pure Simplicity Tomato Face Scrub. The 4oz. bottle is Not the
cheapest scrub compared to St. Ives. It cost me $18.00. A huge
comparison compared to St. Ives but semi-worth the exertion. The scrub
is a gentle foaming scrub that helps tone, polish and smooth all skin
types. I walked a way with my new purchase feeling almost positive that
it was a good buy due to the benefits of tomatoes.
Now let's discuss why a tomato scrub is beneficial and why a tomato scrub would be an ideal exfoliating cleanser. Alpha hydroxyl Acids and vitamin C in tomato will brighten and soften your face. Licopene is for free-radical. Daily routine using tomato facial scrub makes the top layer of dirty cells peel off to promote your youth.
Lycopene which is found in tomatoes may be the best free radical scavenger among carotenes - it is at least twice as effective an antioxidant as beta carotene. In recent years, a number of studies indicated a variety of health benefits of lycopene, including reduced risk of cancer, heart diseases and other chronic conditions. In addition to protecting cells from free radical damage, lycopene may produce its beneficial effect by other means, such as improving the function of cell-to-cell junctions and some aspects of cell metabolism. Being fat soluble, lycopene appears to be particularly effective in the tissues with high fat and lipid content. For example, it significantly reduces the risk of cancer of the prostate, an organ very high in lipids. The skin, also a lipid-rich organ, is likely to benefit from high antioxidant activity of lycopene. Theoretically, lycopene's ability to regulate cell-to-cell junctions might provide an additional benefit of improving skin texture.
To sum it all up, tomatoes for your skin and your body are very advantageous. But with today's economy a small tube of this tomato scrub from Bath and Body works would hurt our pockets so why not visit your local supermarket to treat your face to this inexpensive facial scrub!
Here's how to create your own tomato scrub at home:
-Cut a slice of a tomato at the top where the stem is.
-Use the stem to hold the tomato slice to scrub your face.
-Sprinkle about 2-3 tablespoons of sugar on a plate and dip the tomato slice into it.
-Scrub the sugar dipped tomato slice all over your face.
-Concentrate on any troubled spots that need extra exfoliation.
-Leave the scrub on your face/neck for about 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water and towel dry.
-Repeat, do daily or weekly.
Wallah! You have treated your face to a cheap and natural facial treatment that carries the same benefits of a store bought scrub.
